Mama Tina

Mama Tina

Mama Tina Inspired by a dream and driven by memories of her own horrific childhood, Irish woman Christina Noble provides love and hope for Vietnamese street kids.

Through the stories of three street children Mama Tina illustrates Christina's commitment to her philosophy: that all children have the right to education, health care, and above all love.

Punctuated by flashes of humour and exuberance that are both Christina's trademark and unique means of survival, Mama Tina is a profoundly inspiring documentary.

Reviews

"An inspiring documentary chronicling the work of Irish aid worker Christina Noble."

-- Linda Higgins "The Noblest Of Them All?"
On The Box [Ireland], 16th February, 1998

"Producer Steve Jeffares worked hard to tell the story of Mama Tina and this superb, inspiring piece of television is the result."

Critics View
Green Guide. The Age [Melbourne], 7th May, 1998

"A fine documentary, made originally for Australian television, which offers a heart-tugging glimpse of the work of Christina Noble among the street children, or bui doi (dust of life), of Ho Chi Minh City… The scenes of grinding poverty can be distressing, but the joy on the face of a gang of urchins treated to a day at the beach will have you reaching for your cheque book."

Critics Choice
The Sunday Times [Ireland], 15th February, 1998

"How such a self confessed simple woman can make a difference to so many lives is extraordinary. Her stamina and drive are more than impressive and even pleas from her family and doctors cannot slow her down. Harpers and Queen magazine agrees - it named Christina as one of the most influential women in the world."

-- Olivia Mc Mahon "Kids Owe A Lot To Mama."
The Star [Ireland], 15th September, 1998
