December Films

December Films is a Melbourne-based film and television production company established in the early 90s.  Growing from a small award-winning educational producer, its production slate now includes live action and animated children's TV series, documentary one-offs and series and adult drama.

The four principals bring a wealth of development, financing and production experience and network, distribution and financing relationships across the globe.

The Principals

Tony Wright founded the company in the early 90s and expanded the company from being an award-winning educational production company to documentary, animation, children’s series and adult drama. He has worked in all these areas with the commercial networks, the ABC and SBS in Australia as well as the BBC and Nickelodeon in the UK and other European broadcasters.  His credits include: Plasmo (international co-pro), Li’l Horrors (internationally financed), Grey Voyagers (international co-pro) and Revealing Gallipoli (international co-pro). Tony largely functions in the company as the hands on producer. Most recent credit is a Supervising Producer of the recent Australia/Canada Treaty co-production Captain Cook - Obsession & Discovery.

Stephen Amezdroz joined December Films in 2003, after working for over 10 years with Beyond International. His background in high-end documentary series and adult drama makes him a perfect addition to the December team. His long experience and understanding of the international marketplace make him key to the project-financing role within the company. His credits include: Stories of the Stone Age (international co-production), Australians at War, The Human Journey (international co-pro), Africa High and Wild (international co-pro), Chances (series drama) and many more. Most recent credit is a Executive Producer of the recent Australia/Canada Treaty co-production Captain Cook - Obsession & Discovery.

Bryce Menzies is currently practicing as an Entertainment, Media, Arts, Copyright and Defamation lawyer. It is this background that adds another strand of invaluable expertise to the team. Bryce has been involved with some of Australia's best known and successful feature and documentary films as Executive Producer, Producer, Associate Producer and Legal Adviser.  These include: Two Hands, Malcolm, The Big Steal, Death in Brunswick, Proof, The Magistrate, Stark, Muriel's Wedding, Ten Canoes and many many more.  He is currently practicing as an Entertainment, Media, Arts, Copyright and Defamation lawyer.

Tarni James joined December Films after establishing and running the creative development department of FremantleMedia Australia.
